KICKING OFF: INTRODUCING NICOLINE SØRENSEN

What does Think PR do? That’s a question we often get and we must say, that we do quite a lot. For instance, we work for Nicoline. Read on to learn what we do for her personal brand.

When Nicoline Sørensen signed for Everton Women last summer, she was already a star in her homeland. Top scorer in Denmark’s Elite Division, she had been voted the league’s player of the season for 2019/20, and had established herself as a key player for the national team.

But in England, the home of her new team, she was comparatively unknown. Getting Nicoline’s name familiar to fans and media is not only the job of PR, and on the pitch she has certainly played her part. This season she has become a first team regular for Everton, one of the Super League’s top teams, scoring two goals as they push for a place in the Champions League.

And Nicoline isn’t just your ordinary footballer: alongside the day job at Everton, she is studying innovation engineering at Denmark’s Technical University, and hopes to pursue a career in engineering after hanging up her boots.

When we began working with Nicoline in January this year, the goal was to boost her social media presence and public profile, and after a successful first month, it’s fair to say we’ve hit the back of the net.

With sports stars it’s all about building a connection with the fans, and giving them a taste of who their heroes really are. Through a social media strategy that invites interaction, we have helped fans to get an insight into Nicoline’s day-to-day life, sharing content that reflects her diverse range of interests.

In a successful string of online events, we have hosted a live Q&A session on Reddit, prize giveaways, Instagram takeovers, and are currently in the process of planning live content, and interviews with teammates. Alongside that, we have secured interviews with some of the UK’s leading women’s football and engineering magazines, and have more projects in the pipeline.

In just a few weeks Nicoline’s Twitter following has increased 65%, and Instagram by almost 10%, and with more content on the way this is just the start.

Women’s football around the world is experiencing a phenomenal growth in popularity, investment, and coverage, with top players like Pernille Harder, Megan Rapinoe, and Alex Morgan established as genuine global stars. It’s an exciting time to be involved, and the next generation of players are ready to take their place at centre stage.

With a burgeoning football career, this certainly won’t be the last time you hear the name Nicoline Sørensen – we’ll make sure of that!
